A PIM or Product Information Management System is a digital repository which is used to manage and distribute product information across various channels and platforms.

With digital data becoming more and more essential, the use of a PIM system will be an integral aspect of a manufacturers’ service offering in the near future, and it is therefore essential to ensure your data is ready to be consumed, Holding product data in a centralised location, such as descriptions, images, pricing, and specifications, information can be updated at any time. Any updates made are then shared across any channels or digitally created documentation to which the original PIM is linked. This helps to ensure that the product information is always accurate and always up-to-date, catering for sales channels, other data repositories, data sheets, and even eCatalogues.

Beyond just the data, PIM systems also provide tools for product enrichment, allowing businesses to provide additional related content, such as videos, Certificates of Conformity, and user guides, improving the customer experience.

In summary, PIM is a critical tool for managing product information across multiple channels, all maintained from one central location, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in product data management.
