GLOBAL WARMING & UK CONSTRUCTION
Longer, warmer summers most certainly sound quite attractive to the majority of UK residents, with each ray of sunshine like striking gold. However, the global cost of this outcome has catastrophic potential.
Global warming has been high on the agenda of politicians, celebrities, businesses and activism groups worldwide for a long time now, and the noise surrounding this issue only grows louder by the day.
Although the UK’s built environment carbon footprint has been on a downward trend since 1990, the industry still contributes approximately 40% of the UK’s overall carbon emissions. Whilst this remains high, action is being taken and a recent story by Construction News shows plans for the UK’s 20 largest contractors.
