Undoubtedly, the 31st January 2021 will be remembered as an historic date, forever marking the UK’s departure from the European Union.

As our country moves forward independently, we can expect to see some changes in requirements within the construction industry, the first of which has already been introduced.

UKCA Marking or the UK Conformity Assessed marking came into effect on 1stJanuary 2021 and directly impacts construction products.

What is it?

In a nutshell, the UKCA marking replaces the current CE marking within the United Kingdom. CE marking is still required for the European market & Northern Ireland, however in England, Wales and Scotland, UKCA is now the standard.

What does this mean?

For manufacturers, this simply means that all products currently featuring CE marking will now require the UKCA marking to identify that it meets UK Standards.

Timeline to comply

Throughout 2021 and to allow manufacturers to prepare their stocks accordingly, either CE or the new UKCA marking will be acceptable in the UK. However, from 1st January 2022, ONLY UKCA marking will be recognised.

How Are We Prepared?

Ensuring that all our products comply to the latest standards, we now have Declarations of Conformity readily available for all relevant products.

We are also working with our manufacturing partners to prepare future stocks with the UKCA marking if essential.
